Generally, however, the seeds and seed oil are a byproduct of the winemaking process. Though often discarded, the seeds are said to be the part of the grape that is most conducive to health.

Ancient medical writings have revealed that the health benefits of grapes were recorded by Greek philosophers. Thus, a Chardonnay grape, for example, would not necessarily grow into a Chardonnay vine. To illustrate, wine grapevines have hermaphroditic flowers – that is both male and female flowers, which is also referred to as having “perfect flowers” – but the blossoms of one grapevine could be pollinated with the pollen of a different vine with help from the wind or insects, and this pollen could potentially be of a different variety. There are two ways of propagating grapevines: Layering and Re-planting.
Layering involves the use of the grapevine cane, which is a tender, year-old shoot that is fundamental to the spreading of the vine and to the formation of grape clusters as well as leaves for one season. Grapeseed oil is an oil that is expelled from the seeds of grapes and contains many beneficial properties. It can help lock-in moisture, help alleviate dry skin and acne, and reduce the production of your skin’s natural oils. Although it may seem counterintuitive to apply an oil on your skin to help ease oily skin, using grapeseed oil will help to balance your body’s natural oil production and prevent it from producing excess oil. If you use grapeseed oil to help cleanse your skin and learn how to properly buy and store it, you can successfully use grapeseed oil to help alleviate oily skin.
Part 1 of 3:
Cleansing Oily Skin with Grapeseed Oil
Test the product first. Apply a small amount of the grapeseed oil to a small area on your cheek or neck. Observe the area for 24 hours to see if your skin becomes irritated or if you have an allergic reaction. Look out for redness, swelling, itching, or an outbreak of hives or other signs of irritation.
If you experience an allergic reaction, do not use the oil. It is important to test any new product first to prevent a serious or painful allergic reaction to a widespread area.
Apply grapeseed oil to damp skin. Before applying the grapeseed oil, splash your face with warm water and blot dry with a washcloth. Apply about ½ teaspoon of grapeseed oil into the palm of your hand. Gently rub and distribute the oil between both hands, particularly on your fingertips.
